Mental images are the most interesting things…

Have you ever had a riveting mental image? I mean one so strong, you just couldn’t shake it out of your mental dossier?

Well, in case you’re wondering, I have. And they dawn on me in the oddest ways. They never occur to me while I’m actually looking at someone, but later, if I’m really tired and just slightly bored, they will pop into my head with an ease I never thought possible. Each mental image combines different things I know about a person – sometimes including things I have done with them, like crossing the street down town late one evening – but such is not always the case. Sometimes they’re just really odd combinations of what I know about people (and there’s actually a lot. Once someone tells me something I really don’t forget it – unless I want to. It’s most irritating.)

I decided to look into what exactly makes these little mental “flashbacks” and I couldn’t find a single thing. So much for looking well-read. Oh well.

Anyhow, another odd occurence in the average life of…well…me. Enjoy. Everyone must tell me theirs now (as soon as all you NCFCAers are recovered from regionals…)

  1. Oh, I get mental images flashing through my mind. Very much so… No, I wont share them.

  2. What do you mean by images – just pictures, or whole semi-sensory ideas? Just wondering. I get mental images randomly sometimes, but mostly I use them to conceptualize things, and they’re not really vivid.

  3. Specifically semi-sensory ideas. Usually they are not vivid in my case, either, unless they are memories with a twist (kind of like alternate endings).

Mark, I meant just…random stuff. Not trying to incriminate guys (but hey, I knew I was walking into a minefield with this topic). You don’t have to share. πŸ˜‰

  4. I was kidding, Lydia. It’s just funny the way you put it.

  5. ok, lol. Sure. πŸ˜‰ I have a knack for putting things a little oddly……
